Fairfax County EDA works with 29 businesses adding almost 2,300 jobs to the local economy

Prominent announcements came from Bechtel and Navy Federal Credit Union

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.--()--During the first quarter of 2015, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) provided services and resources to 29 businesses that are adding almost 2,300 jobs in Fairfax County. Many of these businesses are in the information technology and professional services sectors, and three are foreign-based firms using a Fairfax County location to expand in North America.

Two of the most prominent announcements during the quarter came from Bechtel Corporation and Navy Federal Credit Union. Bechtel, one of the world’s largest engineering, construction and project management companies, will relocate 700 jobs to Fairfax County from Frederick, Md., as a result of global restructuring. Navy Federal, the world’s largest credit union with more than 5 million members, will expand its headquarters campus in the town of Vienna. The credit union will add 600 headquarters employees.

Other businesses that are creating jobs in Fairfax County:

  • Agilex (now part of Accenture Federal Services), an IT services firm, adding 250 jobs;
  • Preferred Systems Solutions, Inc., which provides IT, engineering and program management services, adding 135 jobs;
  • Novel Applications, Inc. a technology services company, adding 75 jobs; and,
  • Adaequare, Inc., an India-based data and engineering firm, adding 15 jobs.

“The diversity of these announcements – expansion of everything from corporate headquarters to foreign-owned companies – illustrates how Fairfax County is a great location for businesses of all sizes and for companies from a range of industry sectors as well, including operations unrelated to federal government contracting,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the FCEDA.
