Stream Announces Partnership with Cell Phones For Soldiers

Stream Donating Minutes for New Mobile Customers During Month of May

DALLAS--()--Stream (Stream Energy), the premier nationwide provider of essential home services including energy and mobile, announced a philanthropic partnership with Cell Phones For Soldiers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cost-free communications services to active-duty military members and veterans.

The partnership was announced earlier this month in Dallas at Stream’s Ignition 2015 “Get Connected” event for Stream’s Associates and partners. Stream will donate 1000 minutes of international talk time to military members currently serving overseas for every new mobile customer who signs on with Stream during the month of May. Ongoing, Stream will be working with Cell Phones For Soldiers to support the cause through various promotions with its Associates.

“We’re excited to develop our relationship with Cell Phones For Soldiers and kick it off with our May promotion. May is National Military Appreciation Month, so it’s the perfect time for our Associates to get involved with this amazing cause,” said Kimberly Girard, community relations and events manager, Stream.

“Giving back to military members and veterans is important to Stream, and this partnership structure allows us to get our Associates involved in Stream’s charitable giving. We’re looking forward to donating a big number of minutes to Cell Phones For Soldiers at the end of May, and getting involved in Cell Phones For Soldiers’ other programs going forward,” said Mark “Bouncer” Schiro, president and CEO, Stream.

Cell Phones For Soldiers was founded in 2004 by Robbie and Brittany Bergquist, who were teenagers at the time. The charity has since provided more than 213 million minutes of free talk time to servicemen and women stationed around the world through its calling card program, Minutes That Matter. On average, Cell Phones For Soldiers distributes 3,000 calling cards each week to bases around the world, care package programs, deployment ceremonies and VA hospitals.

Robbie and Brittany’s parents, Gail and Bob Bergquist, were on site at Stream’s Ignition event in Dallas last weekend to speak to Stream Associates about Cell Phones For Soldiers. “It was great to meet with Stream’s Associates, who share our excitement about this partnership,” said Gail Bergquist.
