Stoneware Announces the Immediate Availability of LanSchool 7.8.1 with Google Chromebook Enhancements and Student Privacy Feature

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Stoneware, Inc., the leader in classroom management software, announces the immediate availability of LanSchool 7.8.1. The release contains several enhancements to our award-winning software that allows educators to take control of technology in the classroom to monitor, collaborate and communicate with students more effectively.

In LanSchool 7.8.1, we have made some important enhancements to the LanSchool Connection Service (LCS). The LCS now supports up to 10,000 connections, will auto direct the Student and Teacher to the correct LCS, and includes the ability to auto update the Teacher agent.

“The theme of this release is all about meeting the challenges of the modern classroom,” said Rick German, CEO of Stoneware, Inc. “We know that a myriad of devices continue to enter the classroom at a dizzying pace, and our solution helps teachers manage and control that technology to ensure a distraction-free environment.”

In addition to the LCS enhancements, we have upgraded the functionality of the Chromebook extension to include popular LanSchool features such as View Student, Show Student, Save Snapshot and Chat.

Other new features in LanSchool 7.8.1 include:

  • Added multi-select capability for Windows 8 tablets and improved handling of disconnects when a device goes to sleep.
  • We have added a new configurable option that will ask students to grant permission to allow a Teacher to view their screen. If Student “Screen Privacy” is on, the Teacher will not see the Student thumbnail or be able to view the Student desktop for commands like View Student or Remote Control.
  • The “Ask the Teacher a Question” notice is now more obvious to the Teacher with a pop-up window that lists all Student questions in the order received with an added date and time. The Teacher can also easily locate the student that asked the question―double-click on the question and the Student thumbnail will highlight.
  • Our new iOS applications from the Apple Store are now 64-bit, including the LanSchool Teacher’s Assistant and the LanSchool Student for iOS.
  • A new “Tutorials” button on the far left of the toolbar. This button is designed for a Teacher to get easy/quick access to resources such as LanSchool tutorials, documentation and support.
  • LanSchool has also been improved in this release to make sure that product features and capabilities are provided in an accessible manner to individuals with disabilities.

Pricing and Availability

LanSchool 7.8.1 is a free upgrade for customers under a current maintenance agreement. LanSchool educational pricing starts at $30 per device. Site licenses, volume and educational discounts are available.
