Tanium Taps Incident Response Expert as Chief Security Architect

Information Security veteran Ryan Kazanciyan latest in string of industry experts to join Tanium

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--()--Tanium, the company that has redefined security and systems management, today announced the appointment of Ryan Kazanciyan as Chief Security Architect. Ryan brings over a decade of experience to Tanium, most recently serving as technical director and incident response functional lead at Mandiant (acquired by FireEye in 2013).

In this newly created position, Ryan will keep Tanium on the cutting edge of security research, analyzing the latest tools and tactics leveraged by the ever-growing array of threat actors – from advanced nation-state adversaries to criminal gangs and hacktivists – and conducting research on emerging forensics analysis techniques, Indicators of Compromise (IOC) and incident remediation strategies. This deep industry knowledge will be built into the Tanium Endpoint Platform to accelerate product innovation and build new capabilities for detecting, containing and remediating incidents across millions of endpoints within seconds.

“Ryan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Tanium and will be an invaluable resource as we continue to innovate our platform,” said Orion Hindawi, co-founder and CTO at Tanium. “Ryan is well respected in the security community and passionate about helping organizations around the globe develop new ways to stay ahead of sophisticated attackers. We could not be more thrilled that he’s on board.”

Kazanciyan has over a decade of experience in incident response, forensic analysis and security assessments. Prior to joining Tanium, Ryan oversaw investigation and remediation efforts at Mandiant, a FireEye company, partnering with dozens of Fortune 500 organizations impacted by targeted attacks and breaches. Ryan is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and has taught classes on incident response and forensics for corporate security teams and federal law enforcement. Ryan is also a co-author of “Incident Response and Computer Forensics,” 3rd Edition (2014).

“Through countless investigations, I’ve witnessed the material business impact that sophisticated attacks have on organizations when they are dealing with skilled intruders in complex environments,” said Kazanciyan. “I’m honored to join team Tanium and help tackle this very important problem by equipping organizations with a breakthrough approach to security.”
