IXP Corporation Launches Emergency Services Solution in Danbury

-New 911 call center reflects national trend easing financial burdens of municipalities-

DANBURY, Conn.--()--IXP Corporation, a prominent national public safety and emergency response provider, has announced the launch of the Western Connecticut 911 Communications Center. IXP provides staffing for the center as well as system-wide IT support, resulting in enhanced efficiency and long-term cost savings.

Instead of routing calls into both police and fire departments, the streamlined 911 center will direct all calls to the new dispatch center within the police department. This centralization is expected to result in significant budgetary savings for the City of Danbury—which plans further regional consolidation. The use of civilian dispatch will also free up four Danbury police officers and seven firefighters per shift, allowing those individuals to return to their core mission duties and strengthen public safety.

“IXP’s long-term managed services platform provides emergency call centers that exceed the highest performance metrics while also offering major savings in operating and capital costs,” says William E. Metro, the company’s chief executive officer. “We provide a distinctive solution that directly alleviates the cost burden for local governments facing unfunded pensions and other benefit liabilities.”

IXP’s model for emergency call centers – IXP SAIF® 911 – has changed the paradigm in this sector nationally. IXP now has 911 centers operating across multiple states throughout the U.S. and has secured $45 million in signed contracts through 2019.

IXP evaluates and aligns four core components: Governance, Operations, Technology, and Facilities. The company offers integrated assessment, planning, design, and implementation, as well as operation and staffing with highly experienced dispatchers recruited from the local workforce.

The Western Connecticut 911 Communications Center will be staffed by 37 experienced dispatchers who are hired locally and provided rigorous training by IXP to ensure they will meet demanding benchmarks.

Lawrence D. Consalvos, IXP’s president and chief operating officer, adds, “We enable municipalities to achieve optimal performance and greater control of budgets and resources. We do this by providing a productized service that includes a multi-year fixed price contract which delivers financial predictability and performance-based metrics.”

Mayor Mark Boughton, City of Danbury, concludes, “IXP has done a phenomenal job at organizing and developing our new combined 911 dispatch center. Their staff is knowledgeable, hardworking, and committed. This was a complex project, and the City of Danbury is proud to have IXP as our partner.”
