LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PetSmart, Inc. has partnered with the City of Las Vegas to bring a portable, pop-up dog park to the city. The dog park provides 5,000 square feet of space for pet parents to bring their pets to play. The new park, the PetSmart P.U.P. at Baker Park, is located at 1100 E. St. Louis Ave. near Fremont Middle School.
“At PetSmart, we’re dedicated to enriching the lives of people through the power of pets, and the PetSmart Pop-Up Park is just one part of our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Michael Massey, president and chief executive officer, PetSmart. “We hope the PetSmart P.U.P. at Baker Park will provide pet parents in Las Vegas with a much-needed open space to let their pets run and play while improving the community by repurposing unused space.”
PetSmart’s P.U.P. is a shipping container that includes everything needed to create an interim dog park, including 340 feet of fencing, three Oops clean-up Stations, three moveable backless benches, lighting on and inside the container (powered by a solar panel on the roof of the container) and a storage closet. The shipping container serves as the park’s point of entry and exit. PetSmart provided all of the equipment required to set up the park, and the City of Las Vegas will maintain the park.

The park officially opened to the public today at a community celebration and ribbon cutting attended by local elected officials, PetSmart leadership and Las Vegas pet parents. In addition, 100 PetSmart associates who were in town as part of the annual Circle of Excellence celebration attended the opening as a show of support to Las Vegas pet parents.
There are currently four other PetSmart P.U.P.s (Pop-Up Park) located in Phoenix (Arizona), Detroit (Michigan), Sacramento (California) and Slidell (Louisiana). PetSmart’s P.U.P. is one of several national programs that PetSmart supports as part of its community relations program, PetSmart Gives Back. This program’s mission is to support organizations that make communities a better place to call home and enrich people’s lives through the power of pets. Other programs include:

- PetSmart Paws for Hope –a program that promotes healing through therapy dogs at hospitals
- PetSmart for Patriots –a joint endeavor between PetSmart and Canine Companions for Independence, in support of Canine Companions’ Wounded Veterans Initiative to help partner assistance dogs with the military veterans who need them
