MUNDELEIN, Ill.--()--Hundreds of Medline employees, family members and friends flexed their crafting and constructing skills at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake today to help support local organizations in need as part of the ninth annual Medline Makes a Difference Day event. The company partnered with service organization Chicago Cares to complete a large variety of difference making initiatives. Some of the tasks included making blankets and pillows, putting together meal packs and toiletry kits for those struggling with homelessness, and constructing bookshelves and cubbies for local schools.

“In one day, Medline demonstrated its deep commitment by engaging hundreds of employees in extensive community service,” said Jenné Myers, CEO, Chicago Cares. “This impact will be felt for months and even years to come, and we couldn’t be happier to partner with Medline, which serves as a rich example for how companies can meaningfully give back and connect with their communities.”

For one local organization, this day of giving will translate into 25,000 meals to the underserved.

“One in seven people in our area rely on Northern Illinois Food Bank’s network of community food pantries and feeding programs for the nutritious food they need to live healthy and thriving lives. Medline’s charismatic community spirit and kindness is a great example of how one company can make a tremendous difference in the lives of thousands of people in need. On behalf of all our hungry neighbors, we extend our sincere thanks to Medline for your generosity and thoughtfulness,” Donna Lake, communications and philanthropy director, Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Since 2006, thousands of Medline employees and family members have contributed more than 27,000 volunteer hours to local community projects in Northern Illinois.
