AUSTIN, Texas--()--For the fourth year in a row, Indeed has topped the list of preferred job sites for external hires, according to research released by SilkRoad. The research — based on 12 million job seekers, 600,000 interviews and almost 300,000 hires — tracks the performance of job sites through its applicant tracking system and annually analyzes data to rank the most effective sites. The 2015 report states that Indeed is the “dominant source” of both interviews and hires in 2015 with 54% of external hires coming from Indeed, more than all other job boards combined.

“Indeed’s mission has been to provide job seekers with a comprehensive listing of jobs worldwide,” said Paul D’Arcy, SVP at Indeed. “The SilkRoad data confirms that our goal has resonated with both job seekers and employers. We are proud to have provided almost three times the number of external hires as Monster, LinkedIn and CareerBuilder combined and more than 10 times as many as Craigslist. We’re honored that 275,000 employers chose to sponsor jobs on Indeed in 2014.”

Over the last four years, the gap between Indeed and its competitors has widened — while the share of hires from other job sites has decreased or plateaued, the share of hires from Indeed has continually grown. And this lead isn’t just among other job sites. Of all sources of external recruitment — including offline sources such as job fairs and campus recruiting — Indeed is the leading source, providing 39% of hires — up from 32% last year.

Reinforcing its mission to aid job seekers, Indeed announced today that employers will be able to list the majority of their jobs on Indeed for free. The move bucks the recent trend by many hiring sources, such as Craigslist and LinkedIn, to increase the cost of job listings.

“In the past, employers had to bet on which jobs they chose to list online. Now, they can list quality jobs on Indeed for free and take advantage of the most effective source of external hires,” said D’Arcy. “This frees up budgets that hiring managers can use to focus on hard-to-fill positions. We believe this will be an industry game changer with all employers listing jobs online for free as a first step.”

Every day, more employers choose Indeed as the primary online site to find the right candidates for their open positions. With more than 180 million job seekers per month and global traffic nearly double that of the second largest site, Indeed helps employers reach highly skilled candidates and fill a variety of jobs anywhere in the world.
