AUSTIN, Texas--()--Austin’s skyline will gain a commanding new addition with a 58-story condo tower. Set to rise 685 feet, its height means it will soar into record books as the tallest structure in Austin, and the tallest residential building west of the Mississippi River.

Constructive Ventures and Aspen Heights are developing the 950,000-square-foot project as a joint venture. The project’s name, The Independent, and innovative design embody the bold, energetic and entrepreneurial spirit that bolsters Austin’s economy, reputation and success.

“Residents at every age and stage of life can comfortably call this tower home – a real first for Austin – and that’s because of all the building’s distinct attributes. In addition to our own on-site amenities, the site’s location is at the nexus of some of Austin's greatest amenities,” said Perry Lorenz, principal of Constructive Ventures.

Located at the northeast corner of West 3rd Street and West Avenue, The Independent offers incredible views of Lady Bird Lake as well as immediate access to downtown’s trail network, new library and myriad of dining and shopping options.

The Independent will feature 370 condo residences, providing a wide array of size and price points. Units will range from 675 to 3,485 square feet, with floorplans featuring one to three bedrooms. Units will range in price from the mid-$300,000s to over $3 million.

“We intend to build a tower that’s truly reflective – in its name, architecture, finishes, views, location and amenities – of Austin,” said Greg Henry, founder and CEO of Aspen Heights. “A building of this prominence should be mindful of not only a diverse set of future residents, but the entire community as well.”

Building amenities encompass two full floors and extend over 20,000 square feet. Amenities will include: a children’s activity room/playground, dog park, pool, fitness center, yoga and barre studio, club rooms, sky lounges, spa area with steam showers and a massage room, guest suites, theater, business center with conference rooms and more.

These are homes gathered into an instantly recognizable presence on the city’s skyline – unique in the way it draws you closer to it,” said Brett Rhode, principal with Rhode:Partners, the project’s architect.
