AHA Announces 40 and 80 Gigabit Per Sec GZIP Accelerators

AHA374 & AHA378 PCI-Express cards provide industry leading throughput while reducing CPU load and overall system power

MOSCOW, Idaho--()--Comtech EF Data Corp’s AHA Products Group announced today the release of two new GZIP Compression Accelerator products. The new computer expansion card-based products continue AHA’s long history of dominance in hardware data compression reaching speeds of 40 or 80 Gbps throughput. The cards support GZIP, ZLIB, LZS, and Deflate and have a low profile, PCI Express® Gen-3 x16 form factor. The AHA374 and AHA378 provide expansion control, on-the-fly compressed data verification for high integrity storage systems, and excellent compression ratios while performing full duplex compression and decompression.

AHA’s compression accelerators help alleviate problems with throughput, latency, and storage requirements due to the large data volume requirements of modern computer storage farms. By providing the equivalent compression performance of 80 to 160 CPU cores, the AHA374 and AHA378 high-speed compression accelerators enable systems to store more data and transfer at much faster rates, enabling improved ROI for equipment manufacturers over competing GZIP solutions.

AHA compression solutions are used by tier 1 storage, WAN Optimization, Big Data, banking, and high frequency trading companies worldwide. AHA remains the preferred supplier for GZIP acceleration due to its superior technology and unmatched customer support for computer server manufacturers.

“New and existing customers alike continue to request high-performance compression solutions,” stated Jeff Hannon, AHA Product Group’s General Manager and VP of Engineering. “Our new 40 Gbps and 80 Gbps boards with our unified GZIP driver are easy to integrate and will enable the next generation of high performance applications.”

Steve Rodgers, Engineering Lead at Velocimetrics, added, “Combining TipOff’s exceptional high-speed packet capture capabilities with the compression performance attainable with the AHA 374 card has enabled us to offer the ability to capture and persist to disk up to 40 Gbps on a single 2U Appliance. This is highly advantageous as high capacity storage on this scale, with such a low footprint, presents significant data center cost savings for our financial services clients.”

Availability

The AHA374 and AHA378 are available for evaluation now, and will be released to production in Q2 2015. AHA is offering free 30-day evaluations of the new cards for qualified customers.
