PatientPoint® Delivers Examination Room Tablet to Primary Care Market, Offering Personalized Content at High-Impact Point of Care

CHICAGO--()--PatientPoint®, the leader and innovator of patient engagement solutions at the point of care, today announced the release of PatientPoint Engage—Primary Care Exam Room Tablet Program, the first examination room tablet designed specifically for the primary care market.

"This is the next generation in patient education and engagement," said Tom McGuinness, CEO at PatientPoint. "By offering interactive content personalized for patients at the point of care, PatientPoint Engage transforms waiting time into learning time."

With the PatientPoint Engage tablet, patients can self-select the content that's most relevant to their current needs, including disease states and health issues to discuss with the physician, information on new medications, interactive quizzes, and helpful articles, videos and coupons. If patients want to learn more, they can email articles to themselves for further action at home. PatientPoint Engage can also connect patients with support services and sponsor programs that provide an even deeper understanding of health and wellness issues.

Providers can take advantage of a practice messaging section to offer timely information to their patients, such as new services, clinical research opportunities, or links to portal enrollment or mobile application downloads that can help them meet the federal government's Meaningful Use incentive criteria. "Our PatientPoint Engage solution also allows providers with multiple offices to deliver consistent messaging to patients accessing different primary care services in different locations," said McGuinness.

Available at no cost for physicians, PatientPoint Engage draws on PatientPoint's 25 years of educating patients in the examination room. "The exam room is where the moment of truth occurs, where patients connect with the doctor, so engaging patients with targeted education in this setting is particularly valuable," said Chris Martini, president of network solutions at PatientPoint. PatientPoint's award-winning educational materials, including content developed by Mayo Clinic, are now in more than 75,000 exam rooms across the U.S.

Last fall, PatientPoint launched a similar exam room tablet for rheumatology practices and is developing new tablet programs for oncologists and other specialty practices. "PatientPoint Engage can be readily integrated into an in-office patient engagement program, from check-in to check-out, to create a consistent patient experience," Martini added.
