CHARLESTON, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CollegeWeekLive, the leading website where students and colleges meet live online, has formed a partnership with STEM Premier, an online solution that assists students in identifying career pathways, educators in recruiting top talent to their schools, and employers in developing a stable, continuous talent pipeline. The collaboration will offer science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) students expanded access to the resources needed to successfully obtain the post-secondary degrees that are increasingly required to compete in high-growth, in-demand industries.
The Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce STEM report projects that there will be 2.4 million job openings in STEM nationwide through 2018, and 92 percent of those jobs will require at least some post-secondary education or training. The study further showed that the U.S. will need 22 million new college degrees—but will fall short of that number by at least three million degrees.
This alliance between CollegeWeekLive and STEM Premier further bolsters the importance of STEM education. CollegeWeekLive’s online college fairs promote STEM degree programs at hundreds of colleges and universities, while STEM Premier allows students to create their own STEM resume, showcasing their skills and talents, including certifications, awards, community service, STEM-related experience, and more. They can also quickly identify industry-specific programs and scholarships to equip them to achieve their goals. STEM Premier also makes it easy for colleges to identify students with interest and skills in these critical areas.
“Almost all of the 30 fastest growing occupations in the next decade will require at least some background in STEM,” said Sumant Mauskar, president of CollegeWeekLive. “We’re pleased to give students access to STEM Premier and help equip them to achieve their educational and career goals.”
“One of the greatest joys for educators lies in finding and nurturing specific talents and skills in students,” said Don Tylinski, president of STEM Premier and a former award-winning school superintendent. “The collaboration between CollegeWeekLive and STEM Premier addresses the opportunity gap that exists for students in largely underserved areas, while providing all STEM students vastly increased resources to unlock their potential.”
