OpenKey Launched by Renowned Startup Maven TJ Person

Koupon Media founder makes the jump to mobile keyless entry

DALLAS--()--OpenKey, the definitive source of powerful mobile data for the hospitality industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of TJ Person as CEO. TJ Person is a strategic leader and innovator with over 15 years in technology, business management and marketing success and was awarded the Dallas 40 Under 40 in 2012. Person recently transitioned from the CEO position at Koupon Media, one of Dallas’ hottest startups, to Chairman.

Person is a seasoned entrepreneur with numerous years of startup experience in the mobile space. Before starting Koupon Media, TJ was the Co-founder and President of Mango Mobile, a company founded in 2005 that quickly became one of the largest mobile marketing agencies. In February 2007, Omnicom Group acquired the company after record growth. TJ spent several years with Omnicom after Mango merged with GMR Marketing.

Person’s latest venture is founding the mobile app company OpenKey. OpenKey is set to become the universal, industry-standard application for mobile keyless entry in hotels. In addition to controlling room access, OpenKey can also collect and deliver data in an anonymized fashion that protects the identity of guests and the proprietary information of individual hotels.

“OpenKey is revolutionizing the mobile keyless entry marketplace and the way guests use their smartphones during hotel stays,” said TJ Person. “The hospitality industry is focusing much more on updated amenities and tech budgets are increasing every year. OpenKey will be a great way for hotels to update their image as well as learn more about guest movement and usage of the property.”

OpenKey provides a powerful SDK that opens guestroom doors and is compatible with a variety of hotel lock brands. OpenKey’s technology also works with hotel brand apps or third-party mobile applications and to collect data within the native app.

About OpenKey

OpenKey offers hotel owners the technology to control guest room access with smartphones. The company is redefining the way a hotel guest accesses into their room by providing keyless entry through their smartphones.
