The conference, “Mobility and Your Organization,” gave attendees unprecedented access to some of the most sought-out industry trendsetters as they discussed common issues pertaining to mobility and business.
Moderated by Carol Massar, co-host of Taking Stock on Bloomberg Radio, the panel’s speakers included Adam Pasieka, director of sales operations for mobility, Cisco; Paul Sweeney, U.S. director of research and senior media analyst, Bloomberg, LP; Karen Pattani-Hason, director, agency relations, Urban Airship; and Andrew Borg, vice president, BYOD and enterprise mobile platform product management, Credit Suisse. Attendees received insight into many aspects related to mobility, such as how to engage employees and customers through mobile applications, managing security issues, as well as the importance of communication between HR and IT departments to implement bring your own device (BYOD) strategies.

During the panel, conversation flowed from current issues to the future, specifically the growing popularity of running corporate mobile devices on Wi-Fi and the different challenges this can pose. In addition to discussing the global availability of Wi-Fi, panelists also touched on its potential security issues. The speakers agreed that when choosing to operate corporate devices through a Wi-Fi connection, it is important to take a two-prong approach – work with IT to ensure that items are encrypted and cannot be breached, while simultaneously encouraging HR to educate employees on the best security practices.
