TAMPA, Fla.--()--Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, is proud to welcome neurosurgeon Reginald J. Davis, M.D., FACS to the organization. Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Spine Surgery, Dr. Davis will care for patients at each of Laser Spine Institute’s seven national facilities.

An ardent proponent of research and innovation, Dr. Davis will also contribute to new product development and help facilitate clinical research for the entire organization.

“Dr. Davis’ passion for helping patients and clinical research, combined with his demonstrated commitment to advancing the field of minimally invasive spine surgery, will make him a valued addition to the Laser Spine Institute surgical team,” said Bill Horne, Chief Executive Officer, Laser Spine Institute. “We look forward to Dr. Davis’ contributions in helping the organization continue to deliver the most patient-centric and innovative spine care in the country.”

Each surgeon is required to complete an internal fellowship program prior to performing surgery at Laser Spine Institute. As part of that process, Dr. Davis has trained with surgeons at Laser Spine Institute’s Tampa center, including time spent under Michael C. Weiss, D.O., FAOAO, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.

Touting a stellar career both in and out of the operating room, Dr. Davis has devoted substantial time to advancing patient care through spine research and product development, with a primary focus on minimally invasive techniques, motion preservation and non-fusion technologies. He’s also been involved in a number of spine-specific FDA trials, post-market studies and the design of a multitude of devices.

Dr. Davis received an honorary faculty appointment at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he has taught the school’s medical residents about his personal cases. Dr. Davis also served as a clinical instructor for the University of Maryland, where he worked daily with their residents on rotations with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He was also the first person in the United States to use Dynamic Stabilization, the concept of incremental stabilization or progressive control of motion of the lumbar spine through the implantation of posteriorly placed devices.

Dr. Davis is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medical Institution, where he also received a fellowship.
