NetBase Releases Inaugural Report on Top 100 Most Loved Brands

Enterprise-scale social analytics company applied proprietary technology to create consumer-driven Top 100 Brand LoveList report based on social media

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--NetBase, the enterprise-scale social media analytics company, today released its report of the “most loved brands” according to the consumers’ vote. The NetBase Brand Passion Report: Top 100 Brand LoveList was compiled using NetBase’s proprietary social analytics technology to uncover the connection between consumer emotions and brand preferences, identified through social media data.

“Understanding consumer preference and emotion is one part art, one part science,” said Bruun-Jensen. “Measuring the volume or the sentiment of social content alone will not take into account the emotion or passion that a consumer often relies on to make their purchase. Identifying brand emotion can give companies new insight into their brand health and help drive intelligent decision-making.”

To create the report, NetBase reviewed nearly 24 million posts of consumer love across 84 countries. The Top 100 Most Loved Brands span across 13 different industries and originate from 11 different countries. The retail industry dominates the list, with 33 percent of the brands hailing from that sector, including grocery, restaurants and fashion retailers. The automotive industry takes 2nd place, with 13 different brands on the list. Seventy-seven percent of the Top 100 Most Loved Brands come from either the United States or Japan.

Additional facts from the NetBase report include:

  • 62 percent of the brands within the list are based in the United States, while 15 percent are headquartered in Japan and 5 percent in South Korea
  • Apple dominates the Top 10 with four brands, including the iPhone (1st), Apple (3rd), iPad (5th) and MacBook Air (6th)
  • Disney takes 2nd place as the top ranking media brand
  • Audi takes 15th place as the top ranking automotive brand and the highest ranking German brand in the LoveList
  • Only one financial services brand and one insurance brand made the list

The report takes into account a full year of brand conversations, from February 2014 to February 2015, in English, across the social web, and honing in on brand expressions of love, in their varied forms, ranging from ‘adorable’ to ‘revolutionary.’ NetBase then ranked the list of brands based on the volume of love achieved, after removal of spammers and bots.
