Dr. Price’s experience with the ABMS Member Boards, his research and clinical work in a major hospital and health system, as well as his vision for developing and implementing a strategy and plan to advance the Foundation made him the ideal choice for this position.

Dr. Price, a Board Certified family physician who has been with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG) since 1988, is its current Director of Medical Education. In addition, Dr. Price is a physician investigator with the Kaiser Permanente Colorado Institute of Health Research where he also is Co-Director of the Center for Health Education, Dissemination and Implementation Research. He currently serves as Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges section on Continuing Education and Improvement.

"The Foundation will be heavily involved with stimulating research about Board Certification and MOC in the broader health care community,” said Lois Margaret Nora, MD, JD, MBA, ABMS President and Chief Executive Officer. “David brings an extensive research background and firsthand experience with our Portfolio Program which provides an important area of research investigation. Equally important, is the leadership he has demonstrated in a variety of innovative quality driven initiatives involving practicing physicians,” Dr. Nora added.

“I’m excited and honored by the opportunity to lead the Research and Education Foundation,” said Dr. Price. “I look forward to working with physician and health care colleagues and others in the implementation sciences. Together we can study, improve, and disseminate practice-relevant, practical methods that improve patient outcomes and the care experience, address the value of care, and facilitate continuous, lifelong physician development and improvement.”
