Ecova to Provide Utility Expense and Data Management Services to Roundy’s Supermarkets

Ecova solutions will help supermarket track, manage and reduce its energy and carbon consumption

SPOKANE, Wash.--()--Ecova, a total energy and sustainability management company, has been selected by Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets to provide utility expense and data management solutions as well as carbon management solutions and ENERGY STAR® benchmarking. Ecova will assist the retailer in monitoring and reducing energy use and reporting carbon emissions at approximately 165 locations. Roundy’s is a leading grocer in the Midwest that operates retail grocery stores and pharmacies under the Pick ’n Save, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano’s retail banners in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Roundy’s has implemented Ecova’s utility expense and data management solution with a focus on cost and energy savings. Leveraging the Ecova Energy and Sustainability Management Platform and the Ecova Big Data Warehouse, which contains over 2.5 billion points of energy data from more than 700,000 facilities and locations, Roundy’s will gain a better understanding of its energy consumption and cost to improve performance. Additionally, Ecova will now include Roundy’s facilities in its ENERGY STAR Benchmarking service, where Ecova benchmarks over 70,000 buildings monthly in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager.

“As Roundy’s continues to expand, visibility into energy spend and consumption via the Ecova Platform is critical for our operational efficiency and identifying where to focus capital improvements and the maintenance schedule,” said Kevin Christopherson, energy program manager for Roundy’s Supermarkets. “Ecova’s utility expense and data management solution, as well as their ENERGY STAR Benchmarking service, will help us better understand our energy consumption in order to improve efficiencies. The Carbon Management solution will assist us as we deliver on our commitment to improve our overall environmental performance.”

Ecova gathers usage and expenditure data to deliver insights that allow clients to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and set sustainability performance standards. Working with more than 700 commercial public and private sector clients in North America, Ecova helps clients see more opportunities, save more money and resources, and ultimately sustain more for their company and the environment.

“Data is a critical piece of energy and sustainability management; our utility expense and data management solution is the foundation of energy data collection and the first step toward creating a long-term strategic energy and sustainability management program,” said Seth Nesbitt, senior vice president, sales, marketing and strategy at Ecova. “We are delighted to add Roundy’s Supermarkets to our growing list of clients who recognize the value of big data in driving energy and cost savings.”
