Antenna Research Associates (ARA) hosts 8(a) Exporting Discussion in Beltsville, MD

Congressman Steny Hoyer and Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet led the conversation

BELTSVILLE, Md.--()--On January 15, 2015, Congressman Steny Hoyer and Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet visited Antenna Research Associates, a manufacturer of RF solutions and Antenna based systems headquartered in Beltsville, MD.

The visit included a tour of ARA’s facilities, after which Hoyer and Contreras gave a seminar on Exporting for local 8(a) companies. The talk focused on resources available from SBA to aid with exporting. These resources include market research, loans, and advice. Many companies are not aware that this help is available to them.

“I was pleased to tour Antenna Research Associates’ impressive facility today with the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Maria Contreras-Sweet,” said Congressman Steny Hoyer. “ARA has a reputation as a quality supplier to defense and commercial markets, both in the United States and around the world. We need more businesses like ARA creating jobs and manufacturing right here at home. That’s why I have a jobs plan called ‘Make It In America’ that focuses on promoting exports and helping businesses like ARA grow. I hope that Congress will take action to help manufacturers have the opportunity to expand, create jobs, and make it right here in Maryland.”

ARA, a graduate of the 8(a) program, was selected to host this workshop due to its recognized leadership as a manufacturer of quality products for the US Military; international market presence; small business status and product innovations. ARA is a minority owned, women owned, American manufacturer and exporter. They currently have sales representatives in 66 countries around the world and are actively expanding their international presence. In 2015 ARA will exhibit their products at the Meteorological Expo show in Brussels, the Defence Systems and Equipment International show in London, and the CommunicAsia show in Singapore.

ARA President & CEO Logen Thiran said, "ARA is excited to host this event and to have the opportunity to highlight our engineering and manufacturing capability, and share our customer experiences which include US and allied nations, armed forces and commercial customers globally." ARA’s market applications include: UHF SATCOM, military communications; electronic warfare; commercial SATCOM; radars and threat simulators.
