Big Boulder Initiative to Advance the Social Data Industry Names NetBase One of Four Founding Members

Enterprise-Scale Social Media Analytics Company, NetBase, Joins Twitter and Other Industry Leaders in Developing Key Projects

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--NetBase, the enterprise-scale social media analytics company, today announced it is one of four founding members of the Big Boulder Initiative, a new 501(c)(6) trade association dedicated to the advancement of social data usage by businesses and organizations of all kinds. Chris Moody, vice president of data strategy at Twitter, serves as chairman of the Big Boulder Initiative. Pernille Bruun-Jensen, chief marketing officer of NetBase and a founding member of the Big Boulder Initiative, joins the board of directors alongside executives from Twitter, IBM, and Brandwatch as a board observer.

The Big Boulder Initiative’s mission is to bring together representatives from companies within the social ecosystem to create a foundation for the long-term success of the social data industry with particular emphasis on respect for the end user, the consumer.

NetBase works with the biggest brands and agencies around the world, including The Coca-Cola Company, Target, and Sony, to name a few. NetBase helps enterprise-scale companies drive real-time action and business value from social media analytics. NetBase is committed to working with its thousands of users to advance the interests of both the social industry and the billions of people who use social media every day in their personal and working lives.

“Social data is now one of the most important — if not the most important — source of information for decision-makers worldwide,” said Moody. “We as an industry must ensure that social data is handled responsibly. The Big Boulder Initiative is a giant step forward in that critical effort and I am looking forward to working with NetBase to further the growth of the social data ecosystem.”

“The Big Boulder Initiative represents a turning point in the history of the social data industry,” added Bruun-Jensen. “This marks the first time the industry will have established best practices and ethical standards that are both widely accepted and fully transparent. This will inevitably increase the trust and confidence the industry needs in order to continue to grow and mature.”

The Big Boulder Initiative’s mission, plans, and deep focus on consumers are candidly discussed with BBI Chairman Chris Moody and NetBase CMO Pernille Bruun-Jensen in a podcast presented by NetBase.
