Endemol North America Extends Award-Winning “Wipeout” Brand with First-Ever Live Sporting Event

Producers of Hit Television Series Teams with VAVi Sport & Social To Launch “WIPEOUTRUN” in the U.S. and Canada

SAN DIEGO--()--Endemol North America – the leading independent producer of some of the world’s most popular entertainment programming for television, cable and digital media, including the popular “Wipeout” series – has teamed with VAVi Sport & Social – industry-leading producer of adult recreational sports leagues and social events to launch “WIPEOUTRUN.” The game show-inspired obstacle series will tour more than 20 cities in the U.S. and Canada beginning in March 2015.

“WIPEOUTRUN” is a rebranded update of VAVi’s massively popular Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC Race), and like the hit television series, the “WIPEOUTRUN” course promises to showcase body flops, big splashes and signature wipeouts. With 12 larger-than-life, iconic show-inspired obstacles spread out over a 5K course, competitors will encounter the Wrecking Balls, Sweeper Arms and Big Balls, among many others. In addition to the 5K race itself, participants and spectators will enjoy a fun-filled festival atmosphere including vendor booths, delicious food and refreshments.

“WIPEOUTRUN” will begin its nationwide tour in March 2015 in nine initial cities and regions announced today, with additional locations to be announced in the coming weeks. “Wipeout” is produced by Endemol USA. “Wipeout” has won multiple awards, including two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the “Favorite Reality Show” category. John Anderson (ESPN’s “SportsCenter”), John Henson (“Talk Soup”) and Jill Wagner (“Teen Wolf”) co-host. The U.S. version of “Wipeout” has sold to more than 180 countries.
