Metric Insights Secures $2.1M Seed Funding Led by First Round Capital

Aims to Change How the Enterprise Interacts with Big Data by Leveraging ‘Push Intelligence’

Business Intelligence Veteran Jon Temple & First Round’s Josh Kopelman Join Newly Formed Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Metric Insights, the business intelligence company that surfaces the right data at the right time for enterprise customers, has secured a $2.1M seed round of funding led by First Round. Aster Data Founder Tasso Argyos, Linden Lab Founder Phillip Rosedale and Aerohive Networks Founder Changming Liu also participated in the round.

Metric Insights not only puts data into the hands of regular business users, it pushes insights that are especially timely, calls attention to opportunities, and provides context that they can use to their advantage. This approach to data, called “Push Intelligence,” enables businesses to have better and deeper engagements with their customers. After adopting Metric Insights, 70% of users engage with BI via Push Intelligence.

In the past six months, Metric Insights has doubled its enterprise customer base, which includes Barnes & Noble, Adobe, and Comcast. The company plans to use this funding round to accelerate growth, and build out its sales and marketing teams as the product continues to evolve.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have such an esteemed group of investors and industry experts back us in this round and on our board,” said Metric Insights CEO Marius Moscovici. “We’re in a perfect position to capitalize on our success to date with Push Intelligence. We’ve grown organically and established lasting relationships with the BI market. We’ve seen Push Intelligence hit its stride, and now it’s time to scale.”

Metric Insights is also announcing the inception of its board of directors, with former Business Objects and Hyperion SVP Jon Temple and First Round Partner Josh Kopelman joining as inaugural members.

“Metric Insights is an advantageous partner for vendors across the board to help drive engagement with data in the enterprise,” said Kopelman. “Their established organic growth and strong partner ecosystems speaks to the company’s future success. At First Round, we’re in the business of helping entrepreneurs go big, making Metric Insights an excellent fit for us.”

Aiming to foster a community of entrepreneurs, First Round has funded companies including Aster Data, MemSQL, Uber, Flatiron, Giga and GetSatisfaction. First Round founder, partner and Metric Insights board member Josh Kopelman is a serial entrepreneur whose past successes include Half.com (now eBay) and TurnTide (now Symantec). Fellow boardmember Jon Temple is currently the president and CEO of FrontRange Solutions, and brings a long track record in business intelligence that includes executive positions at Hyperion and SAP.

“The BI industry has been promising better user engagement for the last two decades, but hasn’t realized it until now,” said Temple. “Metric Insights is finally delivering on the promise of massive participation with Push Intelligence, essentially making BI accessible to consumers by delivering data on their terms. The future is bright for this company. I couldn’t be happier to become a board member.”
