Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge Selects Accela Civic Platform for Recreation and Resource Management

Cloud-Based Solution Enables New Mexico Wildlife Refuge to Offer Online Purchase and Printing of Hunting Licenses and Permits

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--Accela, the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government, today announced that Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge has selected the Accela Recreation and Resource Management on the Civic Platform. Accela solutions will make it easy for visitors to obtain passes online and remove long lines and manual processes.

Situated between the Chupadera Mountains to the west and the San Pascual Mountains to the east, the 57,331-acre New Mexico refuge harbors a wild stretch of the Rio Grande, a ribbon of cottonwood and willow trees visible on the landscape from distant mesas. The river and its diversity of wildlife draw tourists interested in hunting, fishing and hiking. The Refuge holds annual hunts to maintain populations of quail, rabbits, doves, turkeys and mule deer.

Accela Recreation and Resource Management is a secure, cloud-based solution integrated with popular payment processing providers. The technology enables the Refuge to offer quick, easy online access for citizens to participate in hunt lotteries and obtain hunting permits online. Additionally, Recreation and Resource Management offers parks, forests and refuges the ability to enable the public to easily access and reserve recreational facilities, such as campgrounds, and register for permits and licenses. Citizens have the choice to pay for entrance passes and recreation use onsite, online or on their mobile devices, whenever and wherever it is convenient.

“We’re thrilled to support the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge by enabling citizens to obtain and print hunting permits online,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. “We want to improve the citizen experience when they visit our parks, refuges and campgrounds, and this simple technology makes services available online while streamlining operations and transactions for the staff at the Refuge.”
