Convenient Care Association and Wolters Kluwer Health Host Retail Clinic Roundtable

With Open Enrollment Started on November 15, Industry Leaders Provide Insight into Role and Future of Retail Clinic Industry

PHILADELPHIA--()--The Convenient Care Association (CCA), the national trade association for the retail-based clinic industry, will host a roundtable discussion on November 20, 2014 in Philadelphia. Industry leaders and healthcare experts will discuss trends in the healthcare industry and the role of retail clinics, innovations and opportunities including telehealth and technology, and predictions for the short- and long-term future of the industry.

“In today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment, retail clinics play an increasingly important role in patient-centered healthcare by providing access to high-quality acute/chronic disease and preventive healthcare services, and connecting patients to health resources,” said Tine Hansen-Turton, executive director of the CCA. “With open enrollment starting on November 15th, retail clinics are well-positioned to make a meaningful impact in carrying out the objectives of the Affordable Care Act and helping connect Americans to affordable, high-quality healthcare coverage. The roundtable discussion will provide an in-depth look at their role and vision of achieving those objectives now and in the future.”

Healthcare changes are moving rapidly and new trends are emerging. Today’s consumers are taking charge of their healthcare and providers are supporting higher quality outcomes and patient satisfaction while reducing costs. The healthcare system is also moving from volume-based care to value-based care; healthcare is accessible via technology, the Internet, walk-in clinics, and traditional medical settings. States also play a more central role than they have in the past and employees are seeing a decrease in employer-based coverage; payors and providers alike are seeking value through data analysis. These trends are becoming guiding forces for the industry’s role and value proposition to provide accessible, affordable, quality care. In addition, telehealth and chronic care remain key expansion opportunities for the industry.

“With the rapid growth of retail clinics in the last few years, including service expansions, strategic partnerships, and the professional opportunities they provide for nurse practitioners and physician assistants, we recognize the importance of working with the CCA and its members and are proud to support this event,” said Theresa Steltzer, director of publishing for Wolters Kluwer Health, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

“This roundtable discussion is just one of many to come and will help continue to form the way retail clinics deliver affordable, accessible, high-quality healthcare,” adds Hansen-Turton.

The roundtable event is being supported by Wolters Kluwer Health, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, publisher of The Nurse Practitioner journal. Wolters Kluwer Health is a leading provider of information for professionals and students in medicine, nursing, allied health, and pharmacy.
