Black Duck Software Appoints Global Sales Veteran Adam Clay as Vice President of Worldwide Sales

VP joins OSS Logistics provider to grow global footprint

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Black Duck Software, the leading OSS Logistics solutions provider enabling the deployment and management of open source software (OSS), today announced the appointment of Adam Clay as Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Clay will pursue a multichannel strategy as part of Black Duck’s efforts to accelerate the company’s momentum within the enterprise.

“The use of open source code among the Global 2000 has grown tremendously over the last several years, and is now in most mission critical applications,” said Lou Shipley, president and CEO, Black Duck Software. “With his proven leadership in running global sales organizations, Adam will manage the expanding worldwide adoption of Black Duck in companies seeking maximum value from their open source investment. Adam is a natural fit for Black Duck; he is driven, creative, and has a strong track record of selling to the enterprise. As many can attest, he is exceptional at bringing out the best in those around him.”

With more than 17 years of sales management experience, Clay joins Black Duck from Mendix, an enterprise application PaaS provider, where he managed worldwide sales operations as VP of Worldwide Sales. He was instrumental in creating Mendix’s global sales organization, and his process-driven approach to sales management helped the company to increase revenues by 100 percent year over year during his tenure. Prior to Mendix, Clay managed worldwide sales growth for Shunra Software from 2006 to 2011. Before Shunra, he was Vice President of Sales and Services for North America at Keynote Systems. He earned Bachelor’s Degrees in English and American Studies from Skidmore College.

“Companies are struggling to manage the massive influx of open source within their code base, and Black Duck’s OSS Logistics software is ideally positioned to solve this pressing need,” said Clay. “Black Duck has an impressive customer base and a solid foundation. Along with the recent $20 million in new funding led by General Catalyst, I believe the company has all the pieces in place to affect a seismic shift in the market.”
