Excent Introduces Enrich State, the First Special Education Program Management Solution Designed for States

Enrich State helps state agencies meet Results-Driven Accountability requirements, while improving compliance and saving time and money

ROSWELL, Ga.--()--Excent Corp. has released a solution to one of the most difficult issues facing state education agencies today: the extreme cost incurred by a state to administer a compliant, results-driven special education program. Enrich State™, developed by Excent, is the first and only special education data management system that removes the technology infrastructure burden from state agencies and state departments of education as they adjust to new Results-Driven Accountability (RDA) monitoring requirements.

Earlier this year, the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) made a shift in its accountability system, which now requires states to achieve improved educational results for students with disabilities, rather than focusing primarily on procedural compliance. OSEP’s RDA initiative puts a considerable strain on the resources of state and local education agencies, who are already administering and monitoring complex special education program guidelines.

“Over the 20 years Excent has been in business, we’ve seen significant changes in how special education is monitored and how effectiveness is measured. With the most recent focus on Result-Driven Accountability comes a plethora of questions and challenges for education agencies,” said David Craig, president of Excent. “Enrich State is a manifestation of answering these complex requirements for our state agency clients. More importantly, it gives states the data they need to act as a facilitator and partner to local education agencies to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities, while also meeting federal compliance requirements.”

Enrich State is an online solution that provides real-time, statewide data collection for improved local and state compliance and special education program management. It is a one-stop shop that allows district and state special education personnel to manage all IDEA and state-level compliance requirements, and to consolidate important performance data. To help states and districts make the most of their existing resources, Enrich State can receive data from any Individualized Education Plan (IEP) software or student information system. Once paired, Enrich State receives regular updates of district student data to provide real-time insight into the extensive requirements being measured by OSEP.

“Without the appropriate technology infrastructure, gathering data for RDA is costly and time-consuming. This often requires state personnel to travel to individual school districts for tasks such as compliance monitoring, and countless hours of extracting, scrubbing and compiling information from each district’s data system,” said Craig. “Enrich State centralizes and automates many of these tasks, and its online compliance monitoring features allow state-level monitors to remotely review district IDEA and RDA performance. The result is far greater efficiency and enormous savings for taxpayers by eliminating travel costs, saving staff time, and increasing productivity.”

Enrich State can be purchased and implemented as a stand-alone solution or combined with a statewide IEP system.
