SEOUL DESIGN FESTIVAL 2014
2014 Maison & Objet Paris

SEOUL, South Korea--()--Maison & Objet 2014, an interior design and decoration exhibition hosted by SAFI, was held in great success from September 5 to 9 in Paris, drawing attention from the world’s design industry.

The exhibition which was rallied beneath the banner of ‘Sharing and Design’ showcased the works of designers from all parts of the world, displaying their own originality and highlighting natural beauty while excluding mechanical elements.

Especially, noteworthy are the works of Korean designers. ‘Unitism’ by designer Lee Jin Hee, an interior wine rack which enables users to assemble the units into their desired shape, enjoyed much popularity from European buyers. Designer Yang Ji Yun has been acclaimed by visitors for her ‘March’s Seed Card,’ a seed-embedded card that contains eco-story about the circulation of life.

‘Ecojun Company’ displayed Public Capsule (water bottle) made of 100% biodegradable plastic (corn), which was also notable as it added universal design factors to solve the problem of existing bottles and made it more user-friendly.

Seoul Design Foundation (CEO: Baik Jong-won) has participated in ‘Maison & Objet’ for five years in a row to operate Korean stand-alone booth where new designers and their works are introduced to the world as part of the foundation’s ‘Designtag’ business, the Korean design business platform.

Seoul Design Foundation showcased the works of 21 design companies and designers in the recent Maison & Objet and made remarkable achievements by negotiating contracts with about 500 buyers during the five-day show.

The Korean design works displayed during the Maison & Objet 2014 will be disclosed to the public at ‘Incheon Airport Art Shop,’ ‘DDP Art Shop,’ and ‘Cheongwadae Sarangchae Art Shop’ operated by the Foundation.

A person from Seoul Design Foundation said, “the Foundation will participate in various exhibitions held in Asia and Europe as well as Maison & Objet to promote sales of the products,” and added, “While preparing thoroughly for Seoul Design Festival 2014 to be held from November 26, the Foundation will redouble its efforts to promote Seoul design products in and out of Korea by opening and operating outlet stores in other countries.”
