Post University Commended for Its Entrepreneurial Energy in NEASC Re-Accreditation

New Healthcare M.B.A. and Master of Science in Accounting programs accreditation also confirmed

WATERBURY, Conn.--()--The New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC) through its Commission on Higher Education has re-affirmed Post University’s accreditation, commending the institution for the “entrepreneurial energy and collaborative culture (which) has built the needed structures and systems to become a major provider of online education while continuing to maintain its small, traditional campus-based programs.”

The NEASC Commission also informed Post that it has been granted general authority to offer programs at the master’s degree level, and confirmed the accreditation of the school’s new Healthcare M.B.A. and Master of Science in Accounting programs.

Re-accreditation through NEASC’s Commission is required every 10 years to ensure the quality of education being provided to students. The process involved an intense period of self-study, planning and assessment on the part of Post faculty, staff and Board of Trustees, and a peer-review which brought educators from throughout New England to Post’s Waterbury campus for an “honest, objective and comprehensive evaluation carried out with the utmost integrity and commitment to research-driven standards.”

Don Mroz, Ph.D., President of Post University and Founding Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, responded to the positive NEASC review by thanking the Post community. “This is the culmination of a year’s worth of work by more than 70 people. We couldn’t be happier with the results, as the report gave Post many accolades for the work we’ve been doing revolving around student outcomes, student engagement, continuity of vision, increased academic standards and growth strategies for the future.” Mroz also thanked the NEASC Commission and its visiting team for taking the time to “truly understand Post’s student-focused culture.”

Noting another major milestone for Post University in 2015, the NEASC report stated, “As the University prepares to celebrate its 125th anniversary, its committed owners, passionate Board, respected leadership team, and dedicated faculty and staff can take pride in its success over the previous decade to become a ‘thriving’ institution, and to have confidence in its ability to continue its institutional development as a student-focused, career-driven University.”

The NEASC Commission found Post to be “substantially in compliance” with its Standards for Accreditation, and the report noted with praise the institution’s accomplishments, including:

  • The “positive faculty culture of scholar-practitioners committed to the achievement of its students”, and “providing consistency across programs offered in different modalities”
  • “The establishment of a Graduate Studies Committee as part of the institution’s governance structure and the use of Program Advisory boards”
  • The “stability of the Post University Board of Trustees as a strength in providing continuity and a common vision during the past decade of rapid growth and return to financial stability”
  • The demonstrated “capacity to offer master’s degree programs at an acceptable level of quality”

Post University has been accredited by NEASC through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education since 1972.
