LOS ANGELES--()--Two Bit Circus, an engineering entertainment company that is reimagining the world of play, is holding their first STEAM Carnival, a unique, high-energy event featuring tech-infused game attractions and carnival-inspired entertainment to thrill, amuse, and reimagine the way we learn through STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. STEAM Carnival is the signature event of ‘STEAM WEEK’, five days of experiences to help the community of Los Angeles play, engage and learn about STEAM.

STEAM Carnival debuts in Los Angeles October 25-26, 2014 from 11am-7pm at CRAFTED at The Port of LA, Warehouse No. 10, 112 E. 22nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90731.

STEAM Carnival will infuse over 90,000 square feet of fun, where attendees can:

  • PLAY huge custom built games
  • BUILD robots that play music
  • EXPLORE technology infused fashion and a wearable electronics fashion show
  • RACE friends through a giant laser maze
  • CHEER on circus acrobats and fire breathers
  • LEARN about science, technology, engineering, art and math in hands-on workshops
  • ENJOY fun foods and tasting games

The carnival will also feature Two Bit Circus’ most popular games, including:

  • BIGBALL GAME FLOOR: Up to 6 players compete from a selection of familiar arcade games using enormous trackballs.
  • LASER MAZE: A classic amusement with a high-tech twist, this heart-pounding maze forces you to crouch, bend, and stretch to avoid laser contact at all costs.
  • BIGBALL ALLEY: This larger-than-life game invites players to spin a giant trackball using their entire body to knock one out of the park, nail a touchdown, or roll the perfect strike.
  • COPTER COURSE: Using a radio-controlled helicopter, players steer through an elaborate obstacle course full of wind, hoops, and moving targets for the ultimate air adventure.
  • LASER BURST: Forget tossing balls at milk bottles. This game entices players to move their feet and test their aim by blasting giant rings made out of lasers.

“The STEAM Carnival is a modern traveling carnival unlike any that people have seen before,” said Eric Gradman, CTO and Co-Founder of Two Bit Circus. “We've been building high-tech games for years — completely reimagining amusement with things like lasers, robots, and electricity. And now we want to bring it to the public, giving them a chance to interact with these games and making STEAM learning inventive and fun for kids of all ages.”

Two Bit Circus will kick off STEAM Week with STEAM Gala on Wednesday, October 22nd, where community leaders, elected officials, top innovators, and industry luminaries will gather in celebration and support of STEAM. Proceeds will benefit community organizations focused on K-12 STEAM-based programs.

STEAM Developer Hacker Day is the second STEAM Week event. Held on Thursday, October 23rd, this invite-only event brings together hackers, developers, engineers and entrepreneurs to build, explore and collaborate on creating new applications and solutions inspired by STEAM.

On Friday, October 24th, Two Bit Circus will hold a Student Preview Day exclusively for thousands of educators and students to participate in a two-hour hands-on experience that begins with a STEAM Lab workshop and then moves into the STEAM Arcade.

Two Bit Circus is proud of the support received from National Media Sponsor Popular Mechanics, inspiring makers and builders everywhere, as well as IBM, the Title Sponsor for this inaugural STEAM Carnival and STEAM Week. IBM Cloud technology is used in several carnival attractions and will be featured throughout the week.
