Capital Connection 2014

WASHINGTON--()--MAVA today announced that Walter Isaacson will keynote Capital Connection’14 at the Park Hyatt Washington on November 4th.

As president and CEO of the Aspen Institute, Isaacson leads the nonpartisan educational and policy studies institute based in Washington, DC. Isaacson has been the chairman and CEO of CNN and the editor of TIME magazine. A distinguished biographer, Isaacson is the author of Steve Jobs (2011) the critically acclaimed and best-selling nonfiction book and a number of other notable works including Einstein: His Life and Universe (2007), Benjamin Franklin: An American Life (2003), and Kissinger: A Biography (1992), and coauthor of The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made (1986).

His new book, The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution, launches October 7, 2014 and chronicles the innovators of the digital age with a work that is destined to be the standard history of the digital revolution and a guide to how innovation really works.

Isaacson writes, “The computer and the internet are among the most important innovations of our era, but few people know who created them. They were not conjured up in a garret or garage by solo inventors suitable to be singled out on magazine covers or put into a pantheon with Edison, Bell, or Morse. Instead, most of the innovations of the digital age were done collaboratively.”

Isaacson continued, “This is the story of these pioneers, hackers, inventors, and entrepreneurs - who they were, how their minds worked, and what made them so creative. It’s also a narrative of how they collaborated and why their ability to work as teams made them even more creative.”

“Through his lens as a successful and experienced CEO, Isaacson has adeptly chronicled some of this century’s most innovative geniuses, and his perspectives on what it takes to turn disruptive ideas into realities will hit home for this year’s gathering of growth company leaders and their collaborators,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. “His observations of the pioneers of the Digital Revolution will be particularly poignant for anyone who is part of an innovative team.”

Isaacson’s remarks will be the featured keynote at this year’s re-launched Capital Connection’14. Building on more than 25 years as the “must attend” event for the innovators, investors and entrepreneurs at the heart of the Mid-Atlantic technology scene, this year’s NEW Capital Connection’14 will bring together the full community of those focused specifically on technology companies in the growth stage of their life cycle. The event’s top caliber hospitality and headline-making keynote will provide the perfect forum for the key players of the Mid-Atlantic business community as well as national influencers to connect.

The event will be hosted at the Park Hyatt Washington in Washington, DC on Tuesday, November 4 (4 – 9pm).
