Singularity University Pays Tribute to the 2014 Graduate Studies Program and Showcases the 21 Team Projects Developed in the 10-Week Program

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Singularity University (SU), the Silicon Valley educational institute and business accelerator, completed its sixth Graduate Studies Program (GSP) by paying tribute to the 80 participants and showcasing the 21 Team Projects developed during the 10-week program.

The SU challenge for GSP participants: Leverage exponential trends, innovation and the power of entrepreneurship to improve the lives of a billion people within 10 years.

Participants, some of the best and brightest in the world, came from 35 different nations to the SU campus at NASA Research Park to be immersed in an unparalleled learning environment focused on designing a sustainable global solution to one or more Global Grand Challenges: Energy, Food, Water, Environment, Security, Space Exploration, Poverty, Global Health, and Education.

“The 2014 GSP class turned big ideas into practical solutions, with a number of breakthrough innovations and working prototypes”, said Nicholas Haan, Director of Global Grand Challenges and Team Project Leader. “Projects ranged from the use of AI to enhance literacy and learning, biotech solutions to improve health and wellness, as well as new solutions for renewable energy and storage.”

Videos and descriptions of all GSP Team Projects can be viewed at http://singularityu.org/graduate-studies-program/2014-team-project-videos/ and profiles of the participants on Twitter: #GSP14.

About a third of the participants in the 2014 GSP class were invited to attend by virtue of being winners of SU’s Global Impact Competitions (GIC), hosted around the world in partnership with SU alum and sponsoring organizations. These competitions act as a platform to identify outstanding entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists and engineers with the most innovative ideas for positively impacting humanity. The winner of each competition is invited to attend the Graduate Studies Program (GSP) free of charge or at a reduced program fee.

Applications are now being accepted for entrance into the 2015 GSP and the 2015 Global Impact Competitions. Please see: http://singularityu.org/graduate-studies-program/ for details.
