Hearing Loss Association of America's Chicago Walk4Hearing Raises Hearing Loss Awareness

BETHESDA, Md.--()--The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) will host the Chicago Walk4Hearing at Lincoln Park on Sunday, September 28, 2014, with check-in and registration at 9 a.m. and the 5K (3.1 miles) Walk beginning at 10 a.m.

There will be pre-Walk refreshments, snacks and family-friendly entertainment. The Chicago Walk4Hearing is one of 21 walks happening across the nation this year. To register, visit walk4hearing.org.

To further its goal of creating awareness about hearing loss, and to directly affect the communities in which the Walks take place, HLAA has teamed up with Alliance groups at each Walk. This unique collaboration with nonprofit, hearing-related organizations such as schools, hospitals, and hearing healthcare-related entities, provides them the opportunity to raise money and have the benefit of retaining a portion of the total amount raised by their teams for programs in their own community. The success of this program is evident in its growth from 16 Alliance groups in 2008 to 115 in 2014.

Walk4Hearing would like to thank the following 2014 Walk4Hearing National Sponsors for their support of this year’s Walks:

Presenting Sponsors: CapTel Captioned Telephone, hi HealthInnovations, MED-EL
Platinum Sponsor: T-Mobile USA
Diamond Sponsors: IntriCon, Widex
Gold Sponsors: Advanced Bionics, CaptionCall, Cochlear Americas, Wells Fargo
Local Sponsors: WGN 720 Radio, Meyer and Associates, University of Chicago – Comer Children’s Hospital, Etymotic Research, Inc., Culligan, UBS

Since its inception in 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised more than $8 million and has welcomed 50,000 walkers, making it the nation's largest and fastest-growing hearing loss fundraising and public awareness Walk in the country. In addition to raising awareness, Walk4Hearing raises funds that are used in local communities.
