FashioNXT 2014

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Like a classic New York Fashion Week show at Bryant Park, a tent will rise for FashioNXT OCT 8-11 in Portland’s Pearl District. FashioNXT is the City’s premiere fashion show, proclaimed by Mayor Charlie Hales as Portland’s Official Fashion Week. FashioNXT is a fashion week in the most contemporary sense showcasing “what’s next in fashion”.

At FashioNXT, extraordinary designers premiere their next season’s collections. What’s next in fashion today is wearable technology and the innovative ways technology connects people through fashion. FashioNXT presents an innovative fashion experience in Portland and the world takes notice.

In October, Delta Airlines passengers around the world will read about Citilicious events in New York, London, Vienna, Berlin and – Portland: FashioNXT. Five Project Runway winners and All-Stars including Portland’s own Michelle Lesniak and Seth Aaron, and Michael Costello who dressed Beyoncé for the 2014 Grammy’s and her On the Road Tour. Designers from all over the country – Lenzanita from South Dakota, Atiz from Seattle and Irina Shabayeva from New York will join the most exciting designers from Portland. The international caliber of the FashioNXT production has drawn designers from Colombia, the Philippines and in 2014 from China. The Chinese fashion industry is reaching out to the runways in London and New York to introduce its talents. Choosing Portland as the only city in the US outside of New York for a runway show affirms the regard FashioNXT has earned internationally. Shenzhen designers Lu Yu, Nganlok and Song Hong will show in A China Moment, presented by QR Fashion from Shenzhen.

FashioNXT is on the leading edge of the next fashion frontier – wearable computing. FashioNXT was the first major runway show where a designer engaged the world with smart eyewear. On Oct 9, FashioNXT will reveal how the lines between fashion and technology have become blurred revealing the winner of its Wearable Technology Fashion Competition, presented by Digital Trends. The competition will be judged by a “Who’s Who” panel including Howard Nuk, design lead of Samsung, Matt Rhodes, a lead designer of Nike, Mark Francis, Venture Lead of Intel, Ramamurthy Sivakumar, Managing Director, intel Capital and Karim Rashid, recently described as, “one of the best industrial designers of his generation.”
