Allianz Life Awards Scholarships to High Performing Students

The Legacy Scholarship Program Gives $30,000 to Support Higher Education

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Through its annual Legacy Scholarship Program, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) announced it has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to Minnesota students for post-secondary education. Ten $3,000 scholarships were given to children of Allianz Life employees living across the Twin Cities.

“The Allianz Life Legacy Scholarship program recognizes students who do great things both academically and in the community,” said Allianz Life President and CEO Walter White. “We’re proud to see the difference they’ve already made in the lives of others and look forward to what they will accomplish in the future.”

Students who received the scholarships reflect the company’s core values of excellence, caring and showing the utmost respect for others. The 10 scholarships were awarded based on academic performance and involvement in community service.

Allianz Life is proud to recognize the following 2014 Legacy Scholarship recipients:

  • Angelique Daley, from Brooklyn Park, Minn., attends Bradley University, Peoria, Ill.;
  • Allison Kehn, from Champlin, Minn., attends Marquette University, Milwaukee;
  • Xun “Sunny” Liu, from Maple Grove, Minn., attends Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh;
  • Mara Maus, from Minneapolis, attends Montana State University, Bozeman, Mo.;
  • Elynor Michel, from Edina, Minn., attends the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.;
  • Allison Morrow, from Mound, Minn., attends Bemidji State University, Bemidji, Minn.;
  • Andrew Nelson, from Eden Prairie, Minn., attends the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis;
  • Megan Ostrom, from St. Louis Park, Minn., attends Emory University, Atlanta;
  • Emily Pirkl, from Golden Valley, Minn., attends the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and;
  • Maray Singleton, from Minneapolis, attends St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minn.

The Allianz Legacy Scholarship Program was created in 1991 to honor Rosie Wineland, an exemplary Allianz Life employee who passed away after battling cancer. In the years since her death, the company continues to honor past employee legacies while celebrating its core values by awarding these scholarships.
