Time Warner Cable, Official WiFi Service Provider for the US Open, Offers Fans Enhanced WiFi Service in Arthur Ashe Stadium

TWC Helps Fans Enjoy the US Open Better with Complimentary WiFi, Charging Stations and Special Q&A Sessions with Tennis Legends

NEW YORK--()--Time Warner Cable today announced that it will be an Official WiFi Service Provider at the US Open Tennis Championships in New York City and will offer this service complimentary to all US Open visitors for the duration of the event. The new WiFi offering is an extension of TWC’s existing partnership with USTA, which began in 2013 and includes advertising across select US Open platforms and properties as well as the newly created “Time Warner Cable Studios”.

"We are excited to expand our sponsorship of the US Open and really elevate the experience for our customers and all tennis fans attending the Open this year,” said Jeffrey A. Hirsch, EVP, Chief Marketing/Sales Officer of Residential Services at Time Warner Cable. “We’re all increasingly reliant on WiFi and our phones, so we’re happy that we can help fans get what they need without missing any of the action.”

The WiFi deployment at the US Open is Time Warner Cable’s largest public venue installation to date with 235 access points. Free WiFi will be available throughout all of the US Open’s key public areas including Arthur Ashe Stadium, East Gate, Food Village, Octagon, South Plaza and the Chase Indoor Tennis Center. US Open visitors can access unlimited free WiFi throughout the tournament and save on their mobile data charges by connecting to two available SSIDs, USOPEN2014 or TWC WiFi®.

Additionally, US Open attendees will be invited to the Time Warner Cable Studios at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center where they can engage with some of their favorite tennis legends, including Billie Jean King, Lindsay Davenport, Martina Hingis, Jim Courier and James Blake, as part of a series of Q+A sessions scheduled throughout the tournament. Time Warner Cable Studios will feature charging stations, a simulated control room feed of all televised match courts, and an interactive area that features an umpire chair photo and video experience, a ‘test your swing’ activation and other fan engagement elements.
