KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--“Cablefax,” in cooperation with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) and the American Cable Association (ACA), presented Comporium with the 2014 Independent Top Operator award at the cable TV industry’s annual conference that concluded yesterday here. Comporium was selected for the honor out of 950 member cable TV providers.

When describing Comporium, “… there’s plenty to talk about,” said ACA’s Rob Shema, executive vice president and chief of staff, who was quoted by “Cablefax: The Magazine," which is a major trade publication that featured Comporium’s honor in its July issue distributed at the conference.

Cablefax noted that Comporium is “unabashedly rooted in traditional values, yet exceedingly progressive.” The magazine article highlighted that Comporium technology is cutting edge, citing the availability of TV Everywhere and Video on Demand, a host of home security and automation products, and the major infrastructure upgrade completed last year.

The launch of Zipstream gigabit broadband service to area business parks and fiber-to-the-premises neighborhoods drew attention, along with Comporium’s commitment to local economic development projects in downtown Rock Hill and to its support of area events and causes.

Cablefax also observed that Comporium’s regional Emmy-winning channel CN2 plays a role by having a positive effect on increasing the quality of life in the area.

Accepting the award were Comporium’s Bill Beaty, executive vice president of cable TV, and John Barnes, executive vice president of marketing and business solutions at the show’s awards banquet.

Comporium is the nation’s 27th largest cable operator with interests in the smart home industry, connected car technology, as well as data management and storage.
