Mazzetti Awarded Practice Greenhealth Champion for Change Award for Eighth Consecutive Year

Committed to “Greening” Internal Operations and Helping Partners Make an Impact

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading health care community that empowers its members to increase their efficiencies and environmental stewardship while improving patient safety and care through tools, best practices, and knowledge, has presented its 2014 “Champion for Change” Award to Mazzetti for their success in greening their day-to-day practices and overall commitment to sustainability.

The Champion for Change Award honors businesses that supply the health care sector and have not only taken steps to improve their organization’s green practices, but also gone the extra mile to help their clients and associates expand their sustainable practices.

“Mazzetti has been working for years to help our clients find the intersection of their own economic health, and the environmental health of the communities they serve,” said Walt Vernon, CEO. “We are very proud of our continuing recognition from organizations such as Practice Greenhealth.”

The Champion for Change Award is reserved for organizational partners supplying health care products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources. The winners of this Award have achieved success in greening their own organization and have also assisted others who are committed to improving their environmental performance.

As part of Mazzetti’s 2013 environmental goals, the firm implemented an on-site renewable energy project for a resource-constrained facility in Milot, Haiti. The project consisted of the creative funding of the Hôpital Sacré Coeur’s photovoltaic installation via a power purchase agreement, supply and monetary donations, volunteer vacations, social impact investing, carbon offsets, local labor, and shared investment costs. In addition, as part of Mazzetti’s commitment to the Architecture 2030 Challenge, they started a program in 2013 to project and monitor the performance of the buildings they design, providing clients with their buildings’ energy use intensity (EUI). Mazzetti’s ultimate goal is to monitor every building they design to close the loop and further ensure performance is achieved and maintained.

The Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence Awards were presented in Cleveland, Ohio, at the CleanMed Conference & Exhibition, THE premier national environmental conference for leaders in health care sustainability.
