SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ebates.com, a pioneer and leader in online cash back shopping, today announced results from its annual Father’s Day survey that covers this year’s favorite gifts and discovered that America’s favorite real life dad is none other than President Barack Obama (31 percent), while the country’s favorite TV dad is Cliff Huxtable from “The Cosby Show” (44 percent). The national survey conducted online by uSamp on behalf of Ebates.com in May 2014 among 1,000 adults also discovered top gifts for dads and grads.

Dads Are Still Young At Heart
The Ebates.com survey showed that when it comes to Father’s Day gifts, dads want hi-tech items, like a laptop (43 percent), an Apple iPad (30 percent), a Samsung Galaxy tablet (24 percent), or a Samsung Galaxy smartphone (21 percent). Many are still young at heart and ask for an Xbox One (20 percent), PS4 (18 percent), or a Samsung or Pebble Smartwatch (13 percent).
Dads Also Want Romance
The Ebates.com survey discovered that dads are still romantics, with 40 percent saying they most want a getaway trip with their significant other. Other popular gift choices include tickets to a sporting event (31 percent), clothes (22 percent), “time to myself” (20 percent), and a getaway trip with a friend (19 percent).
The Father’s Day survey also revealed that while American dads want a high priced tech gift or getaway, they may not get the gift of their choice, since more than half of Americans (60 percent) only plan to spend $50 or less on a gift for dad this year.
Grads Want Cash, Not Electronics
For those who think college grads want a tablet or smartphone, think again! The Ebates.com survey asked college students what they’d most like to receive for their college graduation, with almost 8 in 10 students saying they’d most like to receive cash (77 percent). Other top choices include:
- A job – 66%
- Student loan payment – 45%
- Laptop – 43%
- Trip/travel somewhere – 42%
- Clothes – 38%
