Xamarin is the only platform that enables developers to build native iOS, Android and Windows apps in C# and Visual Studio, an IDE used by over six million developers worldwide. The acquisition strengthens the company’s position in bridging one of the largest developer communities in the world with the billions of mobile devices in use today.
Clarius Consulting has worked as a vendor for Microsoft since 2004, and has developed extensions for all major versions of Visual Studio since Visual Studio 2003 for major clients around the world, including their largest customer, Microsoft. The popularity of some of the company’s extensions, such as the “Default Browser Switcher,” have influenced the Visual Studio roadmap, with similar features incorporated into subsequent product releases by Microsoft.

Today, Xamarin also announced the availability of the Xamarin Designer for iOS, integrated into both Visual Studio and Xamarin Studio, as part of the Xamarin 3 release. This powerful alternative to Apple’s Xcode Interface Builder is especially significant for Visual Studio developers as they can now design and develop iOS apps in Visual Studio on Windows, accelerating their workflow while leveraging existing skills and tools investments. The Xamarin Designer for iOS complements the Xamarin Designer for Android already integrated into Visual Studio.
