CollegeNET Helps Georgetown University Achieve Near-Record Early Action Season

University Credits Custom-Designed Online Admissions System From CollegeNET

PORTLAND, Ore.--()--CollegeNET announced today that it helped Georgetown University Admissions assemble one of its strongest Early Action applicant pools ever, with more than 6,800 candidates applying to the university in the fall of 2013.

The university cited its new online application processing system from CollegeNET for streamlining its admissions process.

According to Georgetown, the transition from its manual, paper application process to CollegeNET’s Intelligent Connections® automated, paperless system has improved the application experience for applicants and administrators, saving time and expense by eliminating lost documents, misfiling and data errors. And it has allowed the university to customize its online process to support its brand and collect the information it needs to identify the applicants most suited to Georgetown’s student body.

“The new system has exceeded our expectations,” said Charles Deacon, Dean of Admissions at Georgetown University. “It has vastly improved efficiency while allowing us control over the format and content of our application. We believe the information we are able to gather allows us to retain the holistic review of the individual applicant, consistent with our former manual system, and helps us identify the candidates who are a best-fit for Georgetown. Most of all, the CollegeNET system has given us control over our own process, even as we migrated to a completely on-line system – the importance of which cannot be emphasized enough in this college admissions cycle so beset by problems beyond the control of the individual college.”

The Intelligent Connections online admissions system is CollegeNET’s patented SaaS technology, hosted transparently by CollegeNET. The company customizes its electronic application forms to match the website and support the brand of each of its higher education customers. The form gathers information as specified by each institution. Intelligent Connections allows applicants to request and collect application materials, such as letters of recommendation and transcripts, directly through the online form. The system automatically attaches submitted materials to the corresponding application. CollegeNET’s online application processing system fully integrates with the company’s Admit application review and decision system, streamlining and automating the entire admissions process, from first contact through matriculation.

According to Mr. Deacon, Georgetown Admissions is now able to better manage its applicant pool.

“We can easily see which students haven’t completed their applications or submitted all their ancillary documents, and we can send them reminders,” explained Mr. Deacon. “This is another great improvement over our old system.”
