Bidgely Introduces Pioneering Pricing Model to Catalyze Utility Customer Engagement

Freedom Summer program provides disaggregation benefits at no product cost

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Bidgely, a customer empowerment and business intelligence platform for utilities, today announced a pioneering pricing model that provides Bidgely’s HomeBeatTM customer engagement solution to utilities for no product cost. The limited-time Freedom Summer program is the first in the industry to publicly eliminate product cost, saving utilities millions of dollars compared to alternate solutions. Bidgely’s HomeBeat platform is powered by energy disaggregation technology, which provides appliance-level insights around energy use and empowers customers to change behavior or replace appliances to reduce energy costs.

Raymond James energy analyst Pavel Molchanov commented, “Concerns about upfront cost are a key reason why utilities are often hesitant to deploy new technology. Offering energy disaggregation for free is a creative idea that should spur more utilities to move forward on implementing innovative efficiency and customer engagement solutions.”

Bidgely’s HomeBeat customer engagement solution leverages billions of dollars invested in smart meters by increasing customer retention, enabling proactive avoidance of high bill disputes, and influencing long-term customer behavior. The solid foundation in customer engagement provided by Bidgely will allow utilities to offer demand management programs with unprecedented flexibility and participation. Utilities must join the program during the summer of 2014 to benefit from this pricing model and plan to roll out the solution across their customer base.

“Utilities have deployed more than 150 million smart meters worldwide, yet most lack actionable intelligence to improve their programs,” said Abhay Gupta, CEO of Bidgely. “Our disaggregation platform and no-risk pricing raises the bar for consumer engagement solutions to that of many consumer Internet services. We're providing an incredibly useful service available for free to customers. The Freedom Summer program enables utilities to broadly deploy our innovative technology with higher confidence and lower risk.”

Results from Bidgely’s deployment with utilities and energy retailers across the globe prove the efficacy of its solution. A recent study found that users of Bidgely’s platform reduced household energy use by greater than six percent on average, an improvement of 300 percent over traditional energy management solutions. The company was recently selected as a Gartner Cool Vendor in the Energy and Utilities Category.
