FINDLAY, Ohio--()--Celebrating 100 years of crafting tires for life’s road trips, Cooper today announced the introduction of its latest new product, the innovative CS5 Touring tire. This premium tire delivers remarkable all-season performance targeted for drivers of modern sedans and SUVs. It includes an innovative new Wear Square, which is a visual tread wear indicator that gives consumers a convenient way to gauge the amount of wear on the tread of the tire, giving an indication of when it is time to replace the tire.

“Launching the CS5, which we believe is Cooper’s best touring tire ever is the perfect way to mark Cooper’s 100-year anniversary,” said Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s Director of Product Management. “Its performance is class leading in many aspects that a touring tire buyer finds important, like significantly improved wet breaking and handling – performance characteristics that are helpful in their everyday road trip. It’s truly Cooper’s most impressive touring tire yet and the first to feature our innovative Wear Square tread life indicator.”

The exclusive Wear Square visual indicator allows drivers to quickly assess the approximate tread life remaining on their tires, giving drivers more confidence. As the tire wears, the Wear Square transitions between five stages, beginning with a full square on new tires and ending with an exclamation mark when the tread reaches 2/32s of an inch, indicating it is time to replace the tire. Located at three points of reference around the inside and outside of the tire, the Wear Square can also signal uneven tire wear and possible wheel alignment issues.

“Cooper understands that consumers need an easy way to approximate the life remaining on their tires. Our new Wear Square is a convenience for drivers and underscores Cooper’s commitment to safety. We think consumers will appreciate this new and easier way to check their tires’ remaining tread life, which is a key part of overall vehicle maintenance and important to safe operation,” Jamieson said.

The CS5 Touring boasts improved, second generation silica tread compound with an advanced polymer formulation. The CS5’s unique blend of silica has up to four times more silica than the previous generation of premium all-season tires which dramatically increases its performance. This new tread compound, combined with an asymmetric tread design, patented Stabiledge technology and specially developed 3D Micro-Gauge sipes, delivers a crisp steering response, controlled handling around curves and superior wet handling, shortening stopping distance and lowering rolling resistance for improved fuel mileage. In a certified third party independent test, the CS5 Ultra Touring stopped more than 15 feet shorter than its closest competitor.

This premium luxury tire is now available at Cooper dealers nationwide and is being offered in 78 sizes. The T-speed rated sizes offer an 80,000 mile premium limited warranty, the H- and V-rated sizes have a 60,000 mile warranty and the new W-rated touring sizes come with a 50,000 mile warranty.
