WHAT: |
Gov. Phil Bryant and C Spire executives will get a first-hand progress report on the Booneville School District’s pilot education technology initiative that is equipping students and teachers with the latest computers and high speed Internet connections to create the 21st century digital classroom. The small, rural school district is part of a $1.2 million pilot technology project made possible through state legislation signed into law by Bryant last year. Booneville received funding to pay for Google Chromebook laptops and Apple iPad Minis for all 1,300 K-12 students and 90 teachers along with new, state-of-the-art dedicated Wi-Fi infrastructure from C Spire for the district’s 20-acre elementary, middle and high school campuses. The hosted Wi-Fi solution features over 116 access points in classrooms, study halls, learning labs and elsewhere and is supported by C Spire’s ultra-fast fiber optic technology.
The district is one of a handful in the U.S. that have equipped students and teachers with the latest computing technology and high speed Internet connections so they can take full advantage of the latest digital learning opportunities and efficiencies.
