WHAT: ICF International is partnering with the National Park Service (NPS) and The Trust for Public Land (TPL) to bring an outdoor exercise area to Anacostia National Park in Southeast Washington, D.C. The ribbon cutting will bring remarks by Sudhakar Kesavan, CEO for ICF International and officials from NPS and TPL. Community representatives will be in attendance to mark the fitness addition.

WHY: Obesity is at record levels and rivals smoking as the largest cause of preventable death and disease in the U.S. In Southeast Washington, D.C., the obesity rate is estimated to be higher than 40 percent and there is limited access to inviting places to exercise. This public-private partnership creates an opportunity for cardio workout and strength training, motivation for a healthy lifestyle, and a location for the community to gather and connect with nature .
