Fish & Richardson Announces 2014 1L Diversity Fellows

BOSTON--()--Fish & Richardson has announced the firm’s 2014 1L Diversity Fellows: Thomas Chisena (Temple University, Beasley School of Law), Krystina Ho (Columbia Law School), Philip Kim (George Washington University Law School) and Matthew Mahoney (Columbia Law School). The four first-year law students were selected from over 360 applicants.

Launched in 2005, Fish’s 1L Diversity Fellowship Program is a key component of the firm’s ongoing initiative to recruit, retain, and advance a diverse group of attorneys. The program annually provides fellowships to diverse first-year law students from across the U.S. Each Diversity Fellow will receive a $5,000 academic scholarship, a paid 2014 summer associate position in the domestic Fish office of their choice, and a unique opportunity to be mentored by members of the firm throughout their law school education.

In addition, Fish’s 2014 Diversity Fellows will participate in the 1L Scholars Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). LCLD is a national organization made up of more than 200 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners focused on creating a more diverse legal profession. The 1L LCLD Scholars Program is designed to strengthen the legal pipeline by expanding the number of opportunities for diverse first-year law students.

“As the cultural demographic in this country continues to evolve, the primacy and importance of diversity in providing first-rate legal representation to our clients will follow suit,” said Ahmed Davis, national chair of Fish’s Diversity Initiative and a principal with the firm. “We see significant value in developing a diverse group of attorneys to meet that need, and we are proud to be at the vanguard through our 1L Diversity Fellowship Program. Once again we have a diverse and talented group of summer associates joining our firm, and we look forward to developing relationships with them that will endure.”
