Wells Fargo Funds Management Proudly Recognizes Brian Jacobsen and Bryant VanCronkhite, Recipients of 2014 Institutional Investor’s Fund Industry Intelligence Awards

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Wells Fargo Funds Management, LLC, is pleased to recognize two team members who were awarded 2014 Rising Star awards by Institutional Investor’s Fund Industry Intelligence last night in New York City. Rising stars are considered by Fund Industry Intelligence to be self-starters who have risen quickly to further the development of their firm or the industry as a whole.

Brian Jacobsen, CFA, CFP®, Ph.D., is chief portfolio strategist for Wells Fargo Funds Management. Bryant VanCronkhite, CFA, CPA, with Wells Capital Management, is portfolio manager of the Wells Fargo Advantage Special Mid Cap Value Fund, the Wells Fargo Advantage Special Small Cap Value Fund, and the Wells Fargo Advantage Global Opportunities Fund.

Though Mr. Jacobsen has been in the mutual fund industry for only six years, he has made a mark for himself at Wells Fargo and in the industry as a whole. As chief portfolio strategist for Wells Fargo Funds Management, with $235.6 billion (as of February 28, 2014) under management, Mr. Jacobsen is one of the firm’s leading economic and market commentators. His analysis and evaluation of market-related events play a role in decisions made by many of the country’s largest money managers. He frequently appears on television and in the business media.

In addition to his role at Wells Fargo, Mr. Jacobsen has a background in law and economics. He directs the financial planning program and serves as an associate professor at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He began his investment career in 2004 and joined Wells Fargo Funds Management in 2008. He assumed his role of chief portfolio strategist a year later.

Mr. VanCronkhite came early to his role as portfolio manager after working as a senior analyst on the company’s Value Equity team, covering all sectors within the investment universe. In 2009, at just 29 years of age, he became manager, partnering with co-manager Jim Tringas, of the Wells Fargo Advantage Special Mid Cap Value Fund. Based on the success of his first fund, in November 2013, Mr. VanCronkhite was named co-portfolio manager of the Wells Fargo Advantage Special Small Cap Value Fund and the Wells Fargo Advantage Global Opportunities Fund. These three funds total approximately $1.9 billion in assets (as of February 28, 2014). He also manages separate account strategies.

Mr. VanCronkhite’s deep insights into the small- and mid-cap equity markets are in demand from a variety of media outlets. Within the firm, he shares his investment wisdom with colleagues, shareholders, and institutional investors through direct contact, written commentary, and electronic media.
