Food radiation measurement system PM1406 - How does it work?

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--Polimaster®, a global leader in radiation detection technology is proud to announce the launch of their Food Contamination monitor PM1406. Radiation contamination meter is a small size device specially designed for testing the levels radioactive contamination in environmental samples, liquids and food which is included but not limited to:

  • Drinking water, crops and food
  • Terrestrial and marine environmental samples
  • Soil contamination

The PM1406 is primarily developed for food suppliers, government agencies, environmental consultancies, traders, export and import agencies, and for everyone concerned about radioactive contamination of food, liquids, soil and environmental safety.

Japanese officials have just admitted that since the 2011 Fukushima earthquake, tsunami and meltdown, 20 trillion to 40 trillion becquerel of radioactive tritium have leaked into the Pacific Ocean, plus a huge amount of radioactive cesium, as well as strontium—which replaces calcium in bones and stays in the bodies of humans and sea life. If iodine-131, for example, is taken up by seaweed or plankton, it can be transferred to fish, which are in turn eaten by larger fish. Fish can also take in radionuclides in the water through their gills, and radionuclides can be ingested by mollusks. Cesium would tend to stay in solution and can eventually end up in marine sediment where, because of its long half-life, it will persist for years.

Over 300 tons of radioactive water are still leaking into the sea each day.

To address growing consumer demand, Polimaster has created the Food Contamination monitor PM 1406, which is opposite to large and highly expensive traditional contamination meters and simple in use, small and affordable for regular households.

The PM1406 focus is on measuring radionuclide activity of Cs-137 (cesium 137) and Cs-134 (cesium 134) which are the most likely to get in food after nuclear radiation accidents as well as K-40 (potassium 40) which exists as natural radioactive nuclide in the environment.

Features:

  • Low cost
  • Light weight and size
  • Easy to operate icon menu
  • Contamination thresholds for different food types
  • 3 plastic containers
  • Multi-language user-friendly interface
