DR. LAURIE FLEISHER NAMED ADEA/AAE FOUNDATION SCHOLAR IN THE ADEA LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA), in partnership with the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Foundation, awarded a $25,000 scholarship to Laurie Fleisher, D.M.D., C.A.G.S., New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Fleisher was named the ADEA/AAE Foundation Scholar in the ADEA Leadership Institute at the 2014 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in San Antonio, TX, March 15-18.

“Dr. Fleisher’s dedication to enhancing her leadership skills is an inspiration to other dental educators,” says Stephen K. Young, D.D.S., M.S., Chair of the ADEA Board of Directors. ”ADEA is grateful to the American Association of Endodontists Foundation for their support of this scholarship that will enable Dr. Fleisher to attend the ADEA Leadership Institute.”

The ADEA Leadership Institute, a year-long program, develops faculty members from all elements of dental education as the future leaders of dental and higher education. The scholarship will help support the costs associated with Dr. Fleisher's participation in the institute.

Dr. Fleisher is a Clinical Assistant Professor in both the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive Care, and the Department of Endodontics at the New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD). She also serves as Director of Urgent Care at the college. She is a member of the NYUCD Faculty Council, a student mentor, a peer assessment facilitator, a student club faculty advisor, an interviewer for the Admissions Committee and founded the NYUCD Endodontic Study Club for predoctoral students. She serves on the editorial board for the International Journal of Experimental Dental Science, is Chair of the ADEA Section on Endodontics and maintains a practice at the New York University Dental Faculty Practice where she specializes in endodontic therapy, endodontic retreatment, the diagnosis of complex dental pain and the treatment of dental traumatic injury.

Dr. Fleisher received both her D.M.D. degree and her Certificate in Endodontics from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She was previously a Clinical Instructor at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
