BAYPORT, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Andersen Corporation recently named Senior Vice President and General Counsel Alan Bernick as Chief Legal Officer. In his newly expanded role, Alan assumes responsibility for Real Estate Services, in addition to continuing his responsibilities for overseeing the Legal Department and Internal Audit Services. He also retains his current role as SVP and Corporate Secretary.
“The CLO position recognizes Alan’s expanded role at Andersen,” Andersen Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jay Lund said. “Alan is a valued member of the senior leadership team and his oversight of our more than nine million square feet of real estate is an important responsibility.”
Prior to joining Andersen in 2000, Alan was a partner with the law firm of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP. He received his B.S.B. degree in accounting, with highest distinction, from the University of Minnesota College of Business Administration, and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. He is a certified public accountant (inactive) in the State of Minnesota. He is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a past chair of the tax committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, where he served a term as chair of the governing council of the taxation section. He has been listed in “Who’s Who in American Law” and in the “Best Lawyers in America”. Alan was appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court as a member of the Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education from 2005 to 2010, and as chair of that board from 2008 to 2010.
Bernick volunteers for a number of community organizations. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Temple of Aaron synagogue in St. Paul, Minnesota, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Star Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Tozer Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater St. Paul.
