BRIGHTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In honor of American Heart Month, volunteers from UnitedHealthcare of New England, and New England Revolution defender Kevin Alston and midfielder Kelyn Rowe, brought a carnival-themed party to the patients and families at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton.
Project Sunshine provides enrichment programming and hope to pediatric patients and their families, and restores a crucial sense of normalcy to the health care environment.
Project Sunshine and UnitedHealth Group began its partnership in early 2012. Since then, nearly 6,500 UnitedHealth Group volunteers have created more than 20,500 Arts and Crafts Kits, and 3,400 Sunny Grams for pediatric patients across the country. These volunteers have also participated in 51 hospital-based events.
UnitedHealthcare and the New England Revolution have been in partnership since 2011 to raise awareness on the benefits of healthy living and preventing chronic conditions, especially childhood obesity and diabetes.
